With the word of ghee, the picture we create is our grandmother or mother making a liquid from fresh cream or butter by intensive heating. Parathas, dishes, sweets and other routine diets are prepared from it which leaves a very nice aroma in the kitchen. The concept is unfortunately is distorted among the new generation with the threats of high cholesterol and fattening. Whereas, ghee all around the world is considered as a healthy diet. Abundant vegetable oil advertisements have sidelined the natural Desi Ghee. Question that constantly bother people are:

•    Is it healthy food?
•    Is it fattening?
•    Should we prefer vegetable ghee over Desi Ghee?

Is it healthy food?

Since the development of food industry, Desi Ghee alternatives vegetable oils and margarine have taken its place and also it is hard to find pure Desi Ghee manufacturers in market nowadays. But the best and most pure Desi Ghee is said to be made by Shakarganj foods. Ghee traditionally, was the natural and purest form of oil used for various purposes but now it has been replaced by bottled industry manufactured vegetable oils. The youth needs to know that good doctors still recommend Desi Ghee as it is good with connectives tissues, promotes digestion, strengthens the immune system, increases wound healing and prevent us from many other health deficiencies.

Is it fattening?

Imbalance, excessive or lesser amount of a diet would harm you in any way. Same goes for Desi Ghee. Eat any other food with fats like nuts or milk will have a fattening effect if you are high on calories. A spoon of ghee contains 112 calories, so if u are spreading it out freely over your roti it would definitely swell you up. So, leaving out ghee out of your diet is not the answer you in actual have to go easy on your raw diet and fast food to make the difference.

Should we prefer vegetable oil over Desi Ghee?

First things first the advertisements and vegetable oil cartons are a deception. I strongly believe that there is a strong check needed on them for showing off tomatoes, bell peppers and lettuce leaves. Vegetable oils are in fact made from canola oil, soybean, corn, sunflower and safflower. Now there are two kinds of fats saturated and unsaturated. Vegetable oil has unsaturated fats which has strong structure which in turn is more fattening. Whereas, Desi Ghee contains saturated fats which keeps your metabolism more healthy.
